There are many holidays celebrating in November in Latvia – the Proclamation of Latvian Republic and the Day of Heroes. On the 17 November the group of students visited our Senior Citizens House in Daugavpils.
We prepared greeting cards and a little concert, made some cakes for our senior friends. The auditorium was great- they were singing together with us!
This year the gymnasium celebrates the 180 jubilee. On the 13 November we invited ex- teachers and ex -students to school – they gave us special lessons. They told us about their school time and life experience.
Germany- November 2010
In November we do our traditional “wafer baking” in the senior citizens’ home. We usually take students from grade 5 to this event plus some older students from classes 8 to 10 to help and assist them.
On every floor of the home there is a small kitchen in which our students prepare the wafers and distribute them among the inhabitants of the home.
At the end of the baking we come together in the dining hall where we give a small concert.
For the seniors it is always a very special event as they enjoy the noise, the liveliness, the activities which go on during this time and brighten up their day. All of them enjoy this day and they are looking forward to it every year.

At the end of the stay in the home we give a small concert, singing songs and playing some instruments. Very often the people join our songs and sing together with us.
