ACTUALITIES

	Turkey - February 2011
	February is school holiday time in Turkey. Before the holidays we asked the students to spend some time with their grandparents.
		A few of our foreign students travelled abroad to see their family and friends. They returned with alot of fond and happy memories.
	During the holidays the Turkish teacher Suna Kiper asked the Year 7 students to do an interview with a grandparent. The students presented their work in the form of a photograph album. They were put on display for other students to look at.






	Turkey - January 2011
	The whole of January was spent preparing six pages for our school magazine about the AB comenius Project ‘Young and Old Living Together’.
		The six pages included - The project’s aims - The countries involved - Activities to date - Visits abroad - Up and coming activities - Illustrated with lots of photos.
		The magazine was published at the end of the month and distributed to families and businesses in the community.
	As part of the Year 3 Social Studies Curriculum the students invited their grandparents into the classroom to share their memories of their childhood. The students listened with open ears as they were told about games, songs, clothes, school life and experiences their grandparents had.






	Poland - January 2011
		In January the elder students of our school made colourful masks and hats for a ball. They also decorated the ballroom.

	Later the younger students invited their parents and grandparents for a masked ball. They also prepared a small snack.

	The next activity of January was a small concert. Students and teachers invited the elderly from our area for a concert which took place in a church in our village after Sunday mess.
