Germany - September 2010
For the beginning of the school term our class 6c, now 7c, invited the parents and grandparents to school, having coffee with them and talking with them. We all had a great time and it was a good beginning of the term for all of us.

The school hall was very crowded with parents and grandparents. It was a warm day but in the hall it was nice and cool.
Here you see our form teacher, Mrs Eberhard, how she is supervising our work, busy all the time as usual.
We prepared some cakes, made cookies for the parents and grandparents who enjoyed eating what we had made.
Even Mr Reutemann, our headmaster, tasted our delicious wafers and praised our work.

Poland - September 2010
The official inauguration of the school year took place on September 1. The students and their grandparents met at school with all the teachers and the headmistress, Mrs. Dorota Kowalik.

On September 12 on the premises of our school, the teachers together with the headmistress and some parish representatives organized the family picnic “Goodbye Summer 2010”. The students invited their grandfathers and grandmothers to take part in the celebration. The elderly had the opportunity to spend the time actively with their grandchildren. They could win something in a raffle, taste some delicious home-made cakes and watch performances of local artists.
What is more, one of the elements of carrying out our project was a little poetry time. The pupils could become poets for a while – they wrote beautiful poems about their grandparents and the feelings they have towards them.

Turkey - September 2010
The school year started on the 14th with the juniors classes. It was great to see both parents and grandparents joining the children on their first day at school.

The first week ended with retired teachers and parents planting new trees with the junior students. A sign of new growth.
The 19th of September is Veterans Day in Turkey. Four representatives from the school visited the Veterans at their clubrooms – presented them with gifts and then listened to some of their stories.

School reopened for everyone on the 20th September. A busy day but a good start to the academic year. Over the first few days Serpil ask the children to complete the questionnaire about grandparents. Then a group of students collected and recorded their results.

On Friday the 24th was the annual school picnic. It was extra special this year as a number of grandparents, retired teachers and senior citizens came and joined in with the activities and fun.

The last activity of the month is the second combined project meeting that will be attended by four teachers and six students.
