Zespół Szkół im. Jana Kochanowskiego w Witkowicach, Gimnazjum w Witkowicach is situated in the south of Poland in  Częstochowa. Częstochowa city  is located in the Krakowsko-Częstochowska Upland. The Jasna Góra  Church and the Monastery with the miraculous painting of Our Lady are the main Marian cult centre in Poland. For this reason, Częstochowa is recognized as the spiritual capital of Poland.  As our school is located in the Krakowsko-Częstochowska Upland we have got the opportunity to admire and explore the most picturesque landscapes in our area.

Our school is  a public school. Our school attend children from local villages. Education starts at the age of six (or five) years in primary school. Next is the lower secondary level consisting of three years in gymnasium, starting at the age of 13, ends with an exam. Students take an exam which consist of three parts: humanistic, mathematics- scientific, and modern language( English).

There are some students with special needs. They are from a local children’s home and need special attention and care. From this reason we need to cooperate with a psychologist and social workers. There are a few grading systems used in our school:
  • grades from 2 to 5 and descriptive final grades (in primary school, classes I- III)
  • grades from1 to 6 (in primary school, classes IV –VI and in gymnasium
  • 1(insufficient)
  • 2 (initially poor, later renamed passing)
  • 3 (sufficient)
  • 4 (good)
  • 5 (very good)
  • 6 (excellent)

Our students can wider their knowledge and interest attending additional  classes like: choir, sport club, art workshop. Some of the students who have got special needs can be under care of speech therapist. There is also a psychologist  for those who need any kind of  support.

To shape social awareness we’ve got  students government  in gymnasium. They perform very actively and efficiently in the school life.  

Main goals of the school learning programme  and education in our school are concise:

  • to learn about the integration of modern education technologies (especially ICT)into the curriculum and the new teaching and learning strategies to shape mutual understanding of the most important values
  • to ensure that the young student is capable of completing set tasks in reading, writing, and mathematic
  • to ensure that the young student is capable of thinking.
